In your painting, Miguel Ângelo Marques (Guimarães, 1995) explores the question of the connection between image, referring to an idea of individual memory or narrative. Above any concern with the similarity to the model taking on the basis, the value given to the performative character of the gesture of painting and its materiality prevails. For the construction of his works, constantly involved in the field of figurative painting, whether in the picture or landscape, the artist will collect images of film frames, photographs of his daily life and works of various artists throughout art history. These images are transformed throughout the paint process, ending up representing something that is present out of them. Linking with the plant world is also one of its fundamental concerns, works an approximation to ecosystems and preservation, joining artistic production and research a multidisciplinary interpretation of approach to phytosociology and ethnobotany. In 2021, artists Catarina Braga and Miguel Ângelo Marques join to form the artistic palm collective. With common interests about plant life and work symbioses, the collective explores the involvement of certain species of plants in urban space.
