Teresa Almeida e Silva nasceu em Lisboa em 1956. Frequentou o Curso de Artes Plásticas na Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes e o Curso de Pintura na ESBAL (1981–1986), tendo recebido uma bolsa da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian no âmbito da pintura e serigrafia (1989–1991).
Realizou diversas exposições individuais, entre as quais se destacam na Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes (1987), Espaço Poligrupo-Renascença (1988), Galeria Ara (1991, 1999, 2002), Espaço A/Clube 50 (1989, 1993, 1996, 2001), Galeria Armazém (2007) e Museu Nacional de História Natural (2008, 2010), bem como a exposição “Estrada Marginal” na Galeria Monumental em 2020.
Participou em numerosas exposições coletivas e feiras de arte, incluindo a II Bienal de Vila Nova de Cerveira (1980), “Lis 81” (Galeria Nacional de Arte Moderna, Lisboa, 1981), “O papel como suporte” (S.N.B.A., Lisboa, 1982), “Novos Novos” (S.N.B.A., Lisboa, 1984), “Jovens Pintores” (Galeria Almada Negreiros, 1986), Marca 87 – 1º Festival de Arte Contemporânea (Madeira), 2ª Bienal de Arte dos Açores e Atlântico (1987), Trienal de Osaka (1991, Japão), “Saifu” (Museu de Arte Moderna de Saitama, Tóquio, 1993), Monserat Gallery (Nova Iorque, 1996) e diversas edições da Feira de Arte Contemporânea FAC e ARCO em Lisboa e Madrid entre 1995 e 2005. Participou ainda em exposições coletivas em instituições como o Museu Nacional do Traje, Palácio Nacional da Pena, Palácio dos Condes da Calheta (IICT), Museu Nacional de História Natural, Reitoria da Universidade de Lisboa e Espaço A/Clube 50, colaborando com artistas como Américo Filipe, Alda Nobre, Ana Jotta, José Oliveira, João Silveira Ramos, Luís Homem de Melo, Pedro Casqueiro e Teresa Ferrand.
Ao longo da sua carreira, Teresa Almeida e Silva consolidou-se como uma artista reconhecida no panorama nacional e internacional, com uma prática consistente em pintura, desenho e objetos, tendo participado em exposições e projetos de relevância artística e cultural em Portugal, Espanha, Japão, Alemanha, Estados Unidos e Açores.
