Rogério Manuel Dias Abreu, conhecido artisticamente como Rogério Abreu, nasceu em Freiria, Torres Vedras, Portugal, em 1967. Artista plástico multidisciplinar — escultor, pintor, ceramista e gravador — revelou desde muito cedo uma forte inclinação para as artes. Aos 11 anos construiu a sua primeira roda de oleiro e iniciou-se na pintura a óleo ainda na infância, conservando algumas dessas primeiras obras, hoje distribuídas entre coleções particulares e instituições escolares.
Em 2002, aos 35 anos, decidiu dedicar-se exclusivamente à prática artística, assumindo a escultura como atividade principal. Trabalha com diferentes tipos de pedra, como mármore, basalto e granito, explorando igualmente materiais como madeira, barro, aço, ferro e alumínio. A figuração constitui a base do seu trabalho, frequentemente orientado para uma progressiva simplificação formal, procurando a essência das formas e aproximando-as, por vezes, dos limites da abstração.
Ao longo do seu percurso participou em diversas exposições individuais e coletivas, tanto em Portugal como no estrangeiro, destacando-se mostras em Espanha (Málaga, Sevilha, Linares e Vitória), bem como na Suíça e em França.
Possui várias obras públicas em território português, nomeadamente em Belmonte (Monumento à Costureira), Mêda (Monumento ao Combate), Manteigas e Torres Vedras, além de trabalhos integrados em coleções e espaços distribuídos por diferentes continentes.
Em 2023 foi inaugurada, em Lisboa, Portugal, no Passeio do Carmo, em Belém, a escultura Heróis da Pandemia, promovida pela Ordem dos Médicos, concebida como homenagem permanente aos profissionais de saúde que enfrentaram a Covid-19.
