Rita Costa (1982) é licenciada, mestre e doutorada em História da Arte e pinta desde os 12 anos de idade. Vive no Porto e dedica o seu trabalho à investigação, às aulas e à pintura. A sua prática pictórica situa-se no eixo do expressionismo abstrato, com uma forte componente geométrica, frequentemente vertida em elementos arquitetónicos. Os bairros e o urbanismo, a natureza e o traço orgânico são os principais horizontes temáticos da sua
inspiração. Do ponto de vista formal, explora o (des)equilíbrio entre a linha precisa e rigorosa e o gesto livre, não controlado. Para esse efeito, pinta com recurso a pincéis, mas também a ferramentas da construção civil, obtendo efeitos não previstos que depois manobra e integra, num ato constante de dessacralização e ressignificação da tela. Não concebe a pintura como manifestação de teor decorativo, mas sim como lugar do instintivo e do
emocional, em tensão cumulativa com uma suposta racionalidade.
