Maria Luísa Capela
Santo Tirso, 1997. Graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (2015-2019). He also studied at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin. He won the second prize at the Vila Verde International Young Art Biennial (2022) and the revelation prize at the D. Fernando Prize at MU.SA (2019).
He had his first solo exhibition at Galleria Spazio Nuovo: VERDECER AO SOL (2022) in Rome. He exhibited in Lérida (Spain), the solo show entitled MAKING PAPER FLOWERS (2023), and recently had a solo exhibition at the Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto: ROSES AND CORALS, CARMINE STORMS (2024) in Coimbra.
Participation in the following group exhibitions stands out: GARDENS (2025) at Galleria Spazio Nuovo, Rome; I MAKE FILMS IN MY HEAD (2025) at the Espinho Multimedia Center; The 2024 Sovereign Portuguese Art Prize (2024) at the National Society of Fine Arts; CERES (2024) at the Archbishops' Palace, Loures; ASÍ QUE PASEN DIEZ AÑOS II (2024) at Galeria Silvestre, Madrid; José Mendonça Prize (2023) at the Literary Guild, Lisbon; I Think I Made You Up (2022) at Galeria Plato, Évora; Contemporary Istanbul (2021) in Turkey; Reflection upon Space - Part II (2021) at Espaço Útero and also the Finalists Exhibition (2021) at the National Society of Fine Arts.
The following exhibitions are also noteworthy: APPARENT TRIDIMENSIONALITY (2020) at the António Prates Gallery; the XXI Cerveira International Art Biennial (2020); BARBEITO (2020) at the Medeiros House-Museum and
Almeida and the Prize Paula Rego, 2nd and 3rd edition (2017 and 2018 respectively).
He has been exhibiting regularly since 2019 and is part of public and private collections in Portugal and international private collections.
