João António dos Santos Justino Alves Born in the city of Porto in 1940.Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. Parallel to teaching, he produces his own work in numerous collective and individual exhibitions.
In 1976 he left for Paris as a Fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. In Paris he exhibited at the Calouste Gulbenkian Cultural Center and at Galeria Documenta in 1976 and 1977, having also competed and been represented in the “Realités Nouvelles” and “Grand et Jeune D'Aujourd'hui” Salons. Works were acquired for French national collections.
He returned to Portugal in 1978, developing great activity in the Fine Arts.
It is represented in several Museums and Public Institutions.
He is a Full Member Honoris Causa of the European Academy of Fine Arts.
