IVÂNIA (b. 1986, Ivânia dos Santos) is a self-taught visual artist whose practice emerges from intuition, emotion, and constant aesthetic exploration. Although drawing and painting were always part of her childhood, it was in adulthood that she rediscovered art as a vital and transformative element.
She began her artistic journey in Luxembourg, where she lived for several years, and is currently based in Portugal. Her visual language oscillates between symbolic figuration and emotional abstraction, exploring themes such as identity, femininity, and memory—through instinctive compositions, stylized forms, and a vibrant and personal color palette.
He works primarily with acrylic and oil paint, creating works that frequently incorporate elements of everyday life, fashion, and consumer culture, such as still lifes, domestic scenes, and depictions of tables and food—recurring symbols with a strong philosophical subtext. His work constitutes a hybrid, deeply personal expression, where several artistic references converge.
His work has been featured in group exhibitions and artistic projects in Luxembourg, including the Festival des Migrations at the Chambre des Salariés; two of his works were included in an artistic installation on the pedestrian bridge of Luxembourg's Gare Centrale; and he participated in a project for the European Capital of Culture – Esch 2022.
