Graça Morais
Involved in the mystery and surprise, Graça Morais (1948) creates works that transmit to the spectator to his memory of the rural world, from the village of Virtue in Rear-Os-Montes, where she was born and grew. In a relationship between the body, thought and experience, the artist paints strong traits the faces of a village, the histories of the Portuguese people, their customs, the way of working and the power of motherhood. In addition to painting, she created illustrations for books and tiled panels in various buildings such as the building of the general deposit box in Lisbon, the Belarus Station of Moscow Metropolitan, among others. Graça Morais She represented Portugal at the XVII Biennial of São Paulo in 1983. In 2008, the Contemporary Art Center was inaugurated Graça Morais (CACGM) in Bragança, from the authorship of the architect Souto Moura, who has a core of several rooms dedicated to the work of the painter.Need help?
