Duarte B Freitas é natural de Lisboa, onde vive atualmente e desenvolve o seu trabalho. Frequentou brevemente a Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa na vertente de pintura com acrílico e considera-se autodidata.
Ao longo da vida dedicou uma atenção especial à pintura, em particular no que toca ao cubismo. Mais tarde no seu percurso desenvolveu interesse natural pela fotografia, incluindo a transformação da fotografia com recurso a meios digitais.
Estas experiências estão hoje patentes na sua obra, que se desenvolve com uso da fotografia e pintura em modo de técnica mista, no domínio do conflito entre a realidade e a abstração pura, com evidência frequente de recurso à perspetiva múltipla e condensação visual de espaço e tempo.
O artista plástico tem o seu trabalho referenciado em publicações do meio artístico, com participações em concursos nacionais e internacionais e presença em exposições, com peças recentes integradas em coleções privadas.
