Zinkpé is a contemporary Beninese artist, born in 1969 in Cotonou, Benin. His artistic practice encompasses painting, sculpture, installation and performance, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach deeply rooted in the culture of Benin and in his critical reading of contemporary African society.
Zinkpé's work explores themes such as identity, power, spirituality, and human relationships, presenting a fusion of the traditional and the modern, the sacred and the profane. The artist frequently uses recycled materials and hybrid figures to question the human condition and the duality between body and spirit.
His works are distinguished by their energy and theatricality, creating dynamic compositions that invite reflection and interaction. Through his unique visual language, Zinkpé constructs a dialogue between past and present, tradition and modernity, individual and collective.
Participated in important international exhibitions in Africa, Europe and America, including the Dakar Biennial (Senegal), one of the most prestigious platforms for African art. At the same time, it is co-founder of artistic initiatives in Benin dedicated to supporting and promoting young talent, strengthening the cultural fabric of their country.
Today, Zinkpé is recognized as one of the most influential figures in Contemporary West Africa, representing the Benin with a vibrant, critical work deeply connected to the spiritual and cultural roots of the African continent.
