Teresa Black was born in Lisbon, daughter of a British father and a Portuguese mother. He began studying painting with master Domingos Rebelo and ceramics at Atelier Fragoso. In 1952 he moved to London. Obtains a Fine Arts degree at the Slade School of Fine Arts (Painting and Design). In 1955 he won a postgraduate scholarship. In 1970 he returned to Portugal and dedicated several years to tapestry and collage, always keeping painting as his main interest. He worked as a ceramics professional at Richmond Pottery and Silver Fine Pottery. In 1988 he formed the Pitágoras Group with artists Ló, Garizo do Carmo and Ormon Fannon.He was part of the board of Grupo Viragem. It belongs to the Viajarte Group. He has exhibited since 1952.
