Saul Silveira was born in 1950 in João Pinheiro, Minas Gerais, Brazil. From an early age, he revealed an interest in painting, inspired by the natural landscapes of the Minas Gerais countryside—rivers, forests, and rural areas—which profoundly influenced his artistic sensibility. In 1961, he moved with his family to Belo Horizonte, where he began his first painting experiences, later dedicating himself to graphic arts and advertising illustration. In 1976, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, collaborating with important agencies and consolidating his mastery of drawing and visual composition.
In 1990, he moved to Lisbon, Portugal, where he worked as an advertising illustrator before devoting himself fully to painting in 1997. His work is characterized by a predominantly abstract language, marked by vibrant color, gestures, and texture, sometimes incorporating subtle figurative elements. The expressive brushwork and the dialogue between color and form reflect both the energy of Brazil and the serenity of the Portuguese environment.
He participated in several individual and collective exhibitions in Brazil and Portugal, among which those held in MAC – Contemporary Art Movement and in the Hotel Áurea Museum 5*, in Lisbon, as well as the retrospective at the Palmela City Council Exhibition Hall (2025). In Brazil, he was distinguished with awards such as the Acquisition Award and special mentions in contemporary art salons, including the 5th Brazilian Visual Arts Salon in Sao Paulo.
