Sandra Mateus Henriques was born on August 16, 1971. She has a degree in Business Management and a master's degree in Marketing.
A self-taught artist, he has been painting for over 20 years, although he only recently began exhibiting his work publicly. For a long time, artistic practice was an intimate and private activity, shared only with family and friends.
Despite her training and professional career in marketing, she has always cultivated a passion for various forms of artistic expression. Over the years, she explored painting, sculpture, pottery, and other techniques, using a variety of materials. This path naturally led her to dedicate herself exclusively to abstract painting.
Currently, he works in a small studio in his home in Estoril, where he brings to life concepts and feelings that go beyond verbal language. His works celebrate life and love, in all their aspects, through organic forms, vibrant colors, and striking contrasts. The multiple layers lend depth and movement, and at times, an almost sculptural character, to his creations.
His creative process begins chaotically and intuitively, with an impulsive delivery that reflects the subconscious without rules or restrictions. In the final stages, he tends to reorganize and redefine his work, seeking harmony amidst the chaos, in an almost obsessive gesture of delimiting forms and spaces.
She is deeply fascinated by the marks of time on materials and continually seeks ways to reproduce these effects in her works. She sees beauty in unexpected features, imperfections, and "mistakes" that enrich each piece's narrative. Her art is, therefore, a celebration of imperfection as a path to authenticity.
