REGINA MOTA ANTUNES (Regina.A) was born in Cascais - Portugal, lives and works in Sintra, between the mountains and the sea.
Due to her painterly personality, adaptability, spontaneity, and immense curiosity, she often finds herself exploring and researching, which leads to different approaches and techniques. She feels the need to free herself from her more reflective side and "dive" into the canvas intuitively and gesturally, without looking at previous drafts. It's a challenge to surprise herself, as if it were an intrinsic necessity.
The artistic process is based on the superimposition of random layers of paint, which determines the painting's evolution. These layers are gradually removed, revealing clear colors, textures, and shapes, in a process of construction and deconstruction in which the painting takes on a life of its own.
Working primarily in graphic design until 2010, drawing and painting have been a constant practice in Regina's life and, since 2011, have assumed full prominence. Throughout her career, Regina Mota Antunes has deepened his knowledge as a self-taught artist, or by attending painting, ceramics and drawing workshops, as well as attending the painting course at Ar.Co (Center for Art and Visual Communication).
She has participated in design and sculpture competitions, winning awards, and has had her work exhibited in solo and group exhibitions. Her paintings are held in numerous private and public collections across several continents.
His paintings were present on the international art circuit, where he exhibited in Lisbon, Amsterdam and Seoul.
