Mercês Tomaz Gomes She is a Portuguese photographer and filmmaker. Having graduated in architecture in 2000, she moved to Denmark in 2002 to study camera and lighting, sound, directing, editing, and documentary filmmaking at the European Film College, where she gained her first experience in cinema. She directed, photographed, and produced "A Brief History of the Wind" using stop-motion techniques with 35mm photography. Later, in Copenhagen, with the support of Zentropa, she was able to complete the production and screen it at the Byen Lys Theatre. From 2004 to 2005, in Mumbai, in partnership with Kodak and the local production company Phat Phish, she produced, filmed, and directed "The Island of the Good Life". This medium-length documentary about the city of Mumbai, composed of over 11,000 stills and recordings of the city's ambient sounds, won the award for best experimental documentary at the Barcelona documentary festival DOCUPOLIS 7 in 2007.
