José Faria was born in 1940 in Seixal.
Painter and engraver, he received his training at the school. António Stream.
Member of the board of directors of the Portuguese Engravers Cooperative “Gravura” Lisbon.
Founder of several centers for the dissemination and training of intaglio engraving in Portugal and Malaga.
Thus distinguished with the Publishing Prize of the 3rd Engraving Exhibition of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in 1981.
Thus, José Faria's work is essentially characterized by the drypoint technique he uses to engrave his works.
José Faria was a professor of drawing/printmaking at various art schools in Portugal and Spain.
He currently teaches drawing and printmaking at an institute for deaf youth.

Thus, he holds solo and group exhibitions in various cities: Lisbon, Malaga, Madrid, Cordoba, Marbella, Florence, Belgrade, Athens, Rio de Janeiro, etc.
