Eduardo Ralita (Barcelona, 1967) is a self-taught painter in the material expressionist tradition of arte povera and abstract informalism, living and working between Europe and Asia. He paints primarily on burlap and paper, in a sensual and explosive manner, giving his works a strong and powerful presence and lasting impact. He tears at the paint, splashes the openings, binds the edges, and transcends the surface and boundaries, as if the artist's energy at work could not be limited. At times, the process is furious, physical, and intellectual, a rebellion against uniformity and standardization, and a reaction to the production of the contemporary art industry, glossy and superficial, as distracting as it is banal.
