Eduardo Luiz was a Portuguese visual artist, born in Braga in 1932 and died in 1988. He began his artistic training between 1943 and 1946 at the Porto School of Decorative Arts, continuing his studies in Painting at the Porto School of Fine Arts, where he remained until 1952.
Early in his career, in 1953, he received the Young Painting Award from the Galeria de Março, distinguishing himself as one of the promising artists of contemporary Portuguese art. During these early years, he also developed activities in the fields of dance, music, and stage design, revealing a multifaceted artistic sensitivity.
In 1958, thanks to a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, he left for Paris, where he would eventually settle permanently. It was in France that he achieved international recognition, receiving several prestigious awards. He exhibited regularly in major exhibitions in countries such as Brazil, Spain, Italy, and Belgium, cementing a distinguished international career.
