Carlos Rodrigues was born in Angola and lives and works in Vilarinho, Vila do Conde. He grew up among marble blocks, influenced by the family workshop dedicated to sacred art. From an early age, he followed his father's work, learning to master the hardness and nobility of stone, which became his primary means of expression. Self-taught, he held his first exhibition in 1988, entitled Loose Stones, in the Vila do Conde Tourist Office Gallery. Later, he developed a close artistic relationship with the Master José Rodrigues, attending his studio (now the Foundation José Rodrigues) and the Cooperativa Artística Árvore, experiences that profoundly shaped his vision of sculpture and art.
In his works, Carlos Rodrigues seeks to preserve the natural essence of stone, leaving visible the marks of time and tools, in a continuous dialogue between material and creator. His sculptures are represented in public monuments and private collections.
He participated in several individual and collective exhibitions, standing out The Stone and I (Vila do Conde), Acts of Stone (Harbor), Stones in the Manor (Viana do Castelo), To the Flavor of the Stone (Povoa de Varzim), For the Love of Stone (Porto) and Everything that bathes in light is mine... (Póvoa de Varzim), among other exhibitions held in Portugal.
