Benji Hurtado

Benji Hurtado is a visual artist born in 1977 in the province of Barcelona. His connection to the world of art began early, at the age of fourteen, when he began his professional career in the world of tattooing. It was during this period that he developed a taste for drawing, composition, and creation, elements that would later converge in painting.

At the age of twenty, after overcoming several serious health problems, he decided to fully immerse himself in painting, finding it a form of expression and personal renewal. Since 2002, he has dedicated himself to exploring different techniques and materials, most notably acrylic, which allows him to maintain a high production rate. His work straddles surrealism, magical realism, and pure realism, fusing influences from painting, illustration, comics, manga, literature, and film.

With nearly thirty years of artistic experience, Benji worked for decades as a tattoo artist, creating thousands of designs and projects. Last year, he decided to dedicate himself exclusively to painting, organizing his work into thematic series, in which he explores each concept and perspective to the fullest before moving on to the next.

In 2025, he produced more than twenty works divided into three series, intended for an exhibition at a contemporary art center in his hometown. That same year, he participated in a national contemporary painting competition, with two works selected. He continues to develop new projects, remaining true to the principle that inspiration should always find him working.
