Arnaldo Ferreira was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1923, and passed away November 15, 2000He grew up in the Graça neighborhood, one of Lisbon's typical neighborhoods, where he established a deep connection with the culture and urban landscapes that would later decisively mark his work.

He attended Art School António Stream and the Afonso Domingos Industrial SchoolHowever, he did not complete his formal studies due to the need to work from a young age. He began his professional career as a draftsman and was later encouraged by the artist. Maria Adelaide Lima CruzHe then dedicated himself definitively to painting.

Much of his work focuses on depicting nocturnal Lisbon, distinguished by the creation of somber environments and plays of light and shadow, where deserted urban landscapes predominate, often devoid of human figures.

Throughout his career he produced over a thousand small oil and pastel paintings. Many of his works are part of private and institutional collections, including the Lisbon City Council and the City Museum.

His paintings reveal an introspective and melancholic view of the city, establishing him as a unique and independent figure in the Portuguese artistic landscape of the 20th century.
