António Nogueira
António Nogueira was born in Seia on March 1, 1967.
She graduated in sculpture from the University School of Arts of Coimbra ARCA-EUAC in 1994.
Since 1995 she has had her own studio in Lavariz, Carapinheira, Montemor-o-Velho municipality, where she lives. Between 1995 and 1999 she taught Visual Arts in several schools.
He has exhibited in various institutions and galleries.
A figurative sculptor, inspired by realism, he primarily develops allegorical and ethnographic themes. In the latter case, he uses figures representative of the most traditional practices and manifestations of local and regional culture to nourish and even renew the popular imagination. These poetic tributes, with their careful composition of volumes and restrained dynamism of forms, characterize his public work.
He works primarily with marble and limestone, which he combines with granite and concrete in larger-scale ensembles, such as the Fisherman Monument at Praia da Leirosa, the Weavers Monument (Fioso, Crestuma), the Fishmonger at Praia da Leirosa, the Man from the Mondego Fields (Montemor-o-Velho), the Cheesemaker (Gouveia), the Man Gardening (Gouveia), the Miller from Gândara (Figueira da Foz), the Monument to All Mothers (Montemor-o-Velho), or the Sausage Maker (Quiaios).
