Alberto Péssimo nasceu na Ilha de Moçambique em 1953 onde viveu até aos 8 anos.
Em 1961, vem para Portugal tendo vivido na Benfeita (conselho de Arganil) e em Coimbra antes de se estabelecer no Porto, cidade onde vive atualmente.
Alberto Péssimo estudou na Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto.
Expõe regularmente a título individual e coletivamente, desde 1977.
É professor no Colégio dos Órfãos do Porto, desde 1980.
A sua ação docente estende-se, também, à “Árvore”, cooperativa artística fundada em 1963.
Em 1984, ganhou o prémio de Escultura e o prémio de presença na primeira exposição de artes plásticas da C. M. do Porto.
Orientou diversos cursos de teatro de bonecos e construção de máscaras na Cooperativa Fio da Ariana no Porto.
Trabalhou como cenógrafo na RTP, responsável pela cenografia e bonecos em programas infantis como “A árvore dos Patafurdios” e os “Amigos de Gaspar”.
