Young artists are often a source of new ideas with less conventional works of art, which contributes to an increased diversity of cultural expressions. While the pandemic has taken a toll on the global art market, artists have not stopped working and this has led to their rise. Who are the young artists of P55? Influenced by the great painters of abstract art, Sara Seabra rejects traditional painting and gives wings to her emotions and expressions in the pieces she produces. Your feelings are represented directly, throughthe movements formed on the screens, thes colors and shades. The influence of artists such as Wassily Kandinsky and Jackson Pollock is predominantly denoted in his artistic expression. However, Sara Seabra offers a new element to her painting, by introducing lines from another medium other than paint - the artist introduces thread and fabric to her production, whether on canvas or in other elements.
The compositions of Joana Duarte describe the essential lines of painting: color, shape, texture and movement. In his works with great abstract influences, few elements are used with undefined limits that create interesting chromatic relationships of great subtlety. The splashes of color present in his painting offer the viewer a gateway to raw emotions and the immaterial, by preferentially exploring the tactile qualities and sensitive effects of color.
Patrícia Marinho explores the possibilities of expression in her graphic works by being inspired by her surroundings. Her pieces recurrently depict everyday figures, whether human or organic. The importance of research in the artist's creative process is evidenced by the influence of minimalist lines that made it possible to build an easily recognizable line. He currently works as a freelancer in the areas of illustration and graphic design, continuing to be present in the culture of the city of Guimarães, by continuing to exhibit at Guimarães Noc Noc, by illustrating the Use-It map of Guimarães, and the most recent, the installation commemorating the 154th anniversary of the birth of Raul Brandão “Do you hear the scream? Listen to it”.
In his painting, Miguel Ângelo explores the question of the connection between images, referring to an idea of memory or individual narrative. Above any concern with resemblance to the model he takes as a basis, his work is dominated by the value given to the performative character of the painting gesture and its materiality. For the construction of his works, constantly involved in the field of figurative painting, whether in portraits or landscapes, the artist collects images of cinematographic frames, photographs of his daily life and works by various artists throughout the history of art. These images are transformed throughout the painting process, ending up representing something that is present outside of them.
Born in Goiania, Brazil, O Tal do Simiema is currently living in Portugal. Concerned with the environment and the social issues involved, it uses only sustainable materials with a low environmental impact, forming bright and striking fabrics that cause different feelings. In each brushstroke, there is a cry to call attention to causes ranging from the environment to human rights. He has already participated in exhibitions in Lisbon and at the Festival Noc noc de Guimarães 2020.
