Simão Da Silva, a painter/architect born in 1982 in Porto, lived, studied, and worked for 12 years in cities such as Las Palmas, Amsterdam, Macau, Hong Kong, and Beijing. He graduated in Architecture from the University of Porto in 2008. He now has his painting studio in Vila Nova de Gaia. During the day he works "at the drawing board," and at night he goes down to his "studio" to do what makes him feel (...) painting. He defines his work as a reflection of life, with all its natural consequences and emotions. He often states that he paints mirrors, meaning that when viewing his work we should not look for explanations much beyond our inner self. His work fuses elements of expressionism, surrealism, and figurative art; it is a search for free, raw expression that challenges the observer's moral conscience. The work reflects the artist's personal reflection on the struggle between the unconscious and the conscious, our truth and lies..."
