Visual artist Jorge Molder will reveal a set of 22 new works in the new photography exhibition entitled 'Grandes Planos', which opens on Friday at Galeria Miguel Nabinho, in Lisbon.
Jorge Molder is recognized for his work in black and white photography, the content of which is usually his own body, in particular his face and hands, as well as objects presented in an enigmatic and symbolic way. Images involve an interaction that is often disorienting for the viewer, and Molder's work raises the question of who examines who, whether it is the viewer looking at the object or vice versa. Born in 1947, in Lisbon, Jorge Molder studied Philosophy at the University of Lisbon and began his career as an artist in the 1970s, having presented his first solo exhibition at Cooperativa Árvore, in Porto, in 1978, 'Fotografias de Dentro e de Fora ', with poems by Joaquim Manuel Magalhães and João Miguel Fernandes Jorge.
In 1992 he was made a Knight of the Order of Infante D. Henrique, in 2007 he won the prize of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) and in 2010 he won the EDP/Arte Career Grand Prix. He was invited to the 1994 São Paulo Biennial, having represented Portugal at the 1999 Venice Art Biennial.
