The only known structure by Frank Lloyd Wright in Malibu burned down in a wildfire. Now an opportunity arises for the property, called “Eaglefeather”, to rise from the ashes. The land where the famous architect built the residence in 1940 is for sale for $7.45 million.
Frank Lloyd Wright designed several extraordinary homes in the Los Angeles area in the early 20th century. These include the “Hollyhock House” in East Hollywood, a Mayan Revival home for arts patron and oil heiress Aline Barnsdall, and the “Ennis House” in the Los Feliz neighborhood, a 1920s home built from blocks concrete geometric shapes and which remains one of the most famous iconic works of the famous architect.
However, despite its affinity for Southern California, there is only one known Frank Lloyd Wright project in Malibu, Pacific Palisades. That structure, the Oboler Arch Complex, burned in the Woolsey fire that swept through the area in 2018, threatening several important cultural sites, including the Getty Villa.
