Re_Act Contemporary 2021 - I Have Been in Love for 8 Million Years
Re_Act Contemporary is an art laboratory space, based in the Azores Archipelago, which promotes artistic residencies, on Terceira Island, with artists of different nationalities and areas of expression, whose works have integrated joint exhibitions presented at the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo.
The RE_ACT CONTEMPORARY 2021 edition, which takes place for the first time at Carmina Galeria de Arte Contemporânea Dimas Simas Lopes, has as its aggregating theme I Have Been in Love for 8 Million Years, with the participation of Adrien Missika, Ingela Ihrman, Pedro Barateiro, Richard Healy, among other artists-
Almada Negreiros and the Batalha Monastery fifteen primitive paintings in an imagined altarpiece in Lisbon
This can be seen in the Founder's Chapel, in the Monastery of Batalha the exhibition Almada Negreiros and in the Monastery of Batalha fifteen primitive paintings in an imagined altarpiece, which celebrates a bold and original idea by the Portuguese artist.
The fifteen works that make up the altarpiece that Almada Negreiro imagined include several primitive paintings (from the 15th and 16th centuries), namely the iconic Panels of St. Vincent. In this exhibition, in addition to the life-size reconstitution of the altarpiece he designed – an installation over ten meters high – Almada's works on display in the Chapel testify to his long and intense research process. Drawings, author notebooks, and even three-dimensional models made by Almada, can be seen, many of them for the first time.
Mouth– Biennial of Contemporary Arts
BoCA – Biennial of Contemporary Arts is a contemporary arts biennial based in Lisbon. It is dedicated to transdisciplinary artistic languages, contemplating visual arts, performing arts, performance and music. Until the 17th of October, between Lisbon, Almada and Faro, there are several shows, activities and installations taking place. Some of the artists present are Mónica Calle, Anne Imhof, Grada Kilomba, Luís Lázaro Matos, Agnieszka Polska, among others.
Biennial of Maia
The Bienal de Arte Contemporânea da Maia 2021 includes a vast program of events and activities aimed at different audiences. For two months, September and October 2021, the Bienal will be present in the different exhibition spaces of the Forum da Maia, in the surrounding outdoor spaces, in the central garden and in the streets of the city.
Serralves
The Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art hosts several exhibitions by great national and international artists. On display is an exhibition by Louise Bourgeois dedicated to the work of seven decades, between the late 1940s and 2010. Until October 24, visitors can visit the Jorge Molder exhibition at the Museum, which brings together a selection of works by the artist made from from a vast set existing in the Serralves collection.
Until the 7th of November, the most complete exhibition to date can be found at the Museum. João Maria Gusmão e Pedro Paiva, spanning his work in film, photography, sculpture and installation over nearly two decades. In the Museum park you have access to the Serralves em Luz program and works by Ai Weiwei, among other artists.
