The 6th edition of CONTEXTILE – Contemporary Textile Art Biennial, takes place between September 3 and October 30, 2022. Guimarães will once again be the host city for this edition – Contextile 2022 – combining the 10 years of the biennial's existence at the same time as the 10 years of celebration of Guimarães 2012 – European Capital of Culture. Ten years later, and with 5 editions already carried out, the Bienal is recognized as an international reference in the field of contemporary textile art. But it is also a unique cultural and artistic event, which transforms Guimarães, and the Vale do Ave region, into the epicenter of a process of interaction and connection between artists, creators, communities, industry and territories, thus contributing to the processes of strengthening the identity of the place, encouraging creativity and innovation and valuing the textile culture. Always counting on the partnership and support of the Municipality of Guimarães and Dgartes, and of the textile industry, CONTEXTILE 2022 will occupy the various cultural spaces and public areas of the city, always with the aim of promoting the best that is done in contemporary textile art in Portugal and in the world, and to encourage artistic creation, having textiles as a reference.
